Latina Services

A bilingual and bicultural advocate was hired to work with local domestic violence and sexual assault agencies when they provided services to victims. The Latina advocate provides crisis intervention, advocacy, information, referral and support to suspected Latina victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking. Also would assists Latina victims with safety planning, shelter issues and other transitions and safety issues in collaboration with local domestic violence programs.

The program began developing curriculum and outreach materials in Spanish such as: brochures, newsletters and posters. A seven county's guide of agencies that serve Hispanics was developed and was distributed throughout 7 counties.

In 2007 the Latina program started to provide in house training for local services providers on "Working with Battered Immigrants". Currently, the Latina advocate has attended as a presenter at a regional, state wide and national conferences.
